We all want our children become good readers. And the only way to become a good reader is to keep reading.  Every single book we read makes us a better reader. Learning to read is not something we do in the first few years of school, and that’s that. We have to keep reading, our whole lives long.

That’s why, as Laureate, I’m urging every child in Australia to join the library. And to go there regularly, week after week, to set up a lifelong habit of curious, adventurous wide reading. To become readers for life!
